In cooperation with Grand World Universities, Improving the Performance of a Water Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant Powered by Solar Energy at Tanta Faculty of Engineering

Prof. Saleh Shalaby, Manager of International Cooperation Unit at Tanta University, announced improving the performance of a water reverse osmosis desalination plant that is powered by solar energy at Faculty of Engineering. He added that the plant uses solar energy by direct contact with photovoltaic cells so that no batteries or inverter are used. Hence, the price of water desalination has been decreased compared by the international prices. He added that 65% of water desalination at world level is produced by reverse osmosis. It came as implementation of the directives issued by Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President; and under patronage of Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Acting Dean of Faculty of Engineering, to use scientific research in serving the community and the environment to achieve Egypt’s sustainable development strategy 2030 and the strategic plan of the university.

Moreover, the results of the study were published in the journal of Energy Conversion and Management that is a Q1 journal. In the field of water desalination, a paper was published in Journal of Cleaner Production that is also a Q1 journal in cooperation with University of Pittsburgh, USA.
