Prof. Emad Etman, Former Vice President of Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Head of the Egyptian Research Team, gave a presentation on the professional master’s degree program in smart and sustainable cities at Faculty of Engineering and Digital Technologies, University of Bradford. The program is funded by the British Council under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussein, Acting Tata University President; Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research; and Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Dean of Tanta Faculty of Engineering.
Prof. Emad Etman Declared that the visit included meeting the research team from University of Bradford which included Prof. Mustafa Mohammed, Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at Faculty of Engineering and Digital Technologies, University of Bradford. Then, they met Dean of Faculty of Engineering as well as President of University of Bradford.
Prof. Emad Etman added that the program targets graduates of Faculties of Engineering, Computer & Information, Business Administration & Marketing, and Urban Planning and Design to prepare specialists in building and maintaining smart and sustainable cities to meet Egypt’s vision 2030 of sustainable development. He was accompanied by Prof. Ahmed Ata, Professor at Structural Engineering Department and Member of the Research Team, who pointed out that the research teams of Tanta University and University of Bradford have finished the final preparations for the program in the light of local and international quality standards. He added that study in the program depends on bended education which enables elite of academic staff from both universities to teach and give lectures. In addition, it gives the opportunity for Arab and foreign students to join. It has been determined that study starts in the academic year 2025/2026.
During the meeting, the administration of University of Bradford commended the project and welcomed the scientific partnership. The training official from University of Bradford declared that 60 students have been selected to benefit from training at Faculty of Engineering, Tanta University, as a qualitative step towards graduating qualified specialists to work in different sectors of smart and sustainable cities and to meet the requirements of the labor market.
