Faculty Dean Chairs the Monthly Meeting of Faculty Council and Commends the Success of the Conferences of Architectural Engineering and Urban Planning and Delta Region Alliance Competitions

Faculty of Engineering held its monthly meeting of Faculty Council on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026. It was chaired by Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Faculty Dean, in attendance of vice deans, former university presidents, former vice presidents, former deans, heads of the scientific departments, and a number of academic staff. Prof. Ahmed Nasr started the meeting by congratulating all the attendees on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha supplicating to Allah to bring it back to Egypt with goodness, prosperity, and blessings. After that, the council members also expressed their deepest condolences to Dr. Hosny Dowair on the passing of his brother, praying that Allah would grant the deceased His mercy and provide his family with patience and comfort. During the session, Faculty Dean praised the outstanding success of the conference organized by the Departments of Architecture and Urban Planning, which was held in Hurghada from April 18th to 20th, 2026. He emphasized that the conference served as an exemplary model of academic and administrative organization, particularly because it was conducted entirely through self-funding without imposing any financial burden on the university or faculty budget, in line with the state's policy of rationalizing expenditures and maximizing the use of available resources. He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Prof. Mohammed Hussain, President of Tanta University; Prof. Mahmoud Zaki; Prof. Abdul Hakim Abdul Khaleq; and Prof. Emad Etman. He also commended the significant efforts of the conference team and organizing committee, particularly Prof. Walaa Nour, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Shahira Sharaf Addin, Head of the Architecture Engineering Department; Dr. Marwa Qamar Al-Dawla, Head of Urban Planning and Design Department; and Dr. Hosny Dowair, Conference Secretary, along with all members of the organizing committee, for their contributions in delivering a conference that reflected positively on Tanta University and Faculty of Engineering as well. Dean also reviewed the faculty achievements within the activities of the Delta Alliance Region, adding that the faculty ranked first in the “Heritage Villages Tourism Route in the Delta Region 2026” competition. The competition included 14 teams from Faculties of Engineering across several Egyptian universities, reflecting the excellence of the faculty students and their ability to innovate and compete at the national level. In a related context, he announced the final preparations to host the “Fiber Reinforced Concrete Competition,” organized by the student chapter of the American Concrete Institute, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026. The event would bring together participants from eight Faculties of Engineering across Egypt and aims to promote scientific cooperation and exchange among Egyptian universities while supporting practical student activities in modern engineering fields. He explained that the competition focuses on designing and constructing a lightweight, fiber-reinforced bowling ball, demonstrating the application of modern technologies and innovation in concrete engineering. In addition, Prof. Ahmed Nasr also stressed the importance of strict adherence to the approved university textbook pricing established by Tanta University in accordance with its governing regulations, in order to ease financial burdens on students and ensure fairness and discipline within the educational system. The meeting concluded with discussions on several strategic issues related to enhancing the educational process and improving academic and administrative performance, within the framework of an institutional vision aimed at strengthening the faculty as a center of innovation and scientific excellence.
