Study at Urban Planning and Design Department aims at:
· Graduating an engineer able to determine the urban issues at different planning levels (international, national, regional, and urban), as well as analyzing and formulating objectives and alternative solutions, evaluating them, and selecting the optimal ones
· Developing the graduate's skills to use environmental, social, economic, and infrastructure studies in urban planning projects
· Converting knowledge and theories into strategies and policies for urban development, and shaping these strategies and policies into plans and executive designs
· Formulating development plans for urban and rural areas in the light of national and regional development strategies
· Conducting planning, design, and management activities according to regulations and building legislations
· Updating urban plans in the light of new global, national, regional, and local changes
· Developing housing and service programs for urban plans
· Preparing design drawings for urban planning and design projects
· Preparing and drafting reports and research, as well as developing terms of reference and technical proposals
· Utilizing appropriate modern technologies in regional and urban planning projects
· Developing general skills such as individual and team work, and continuous learning
· Meeting the requirements of the labor market via developing the specialization skills and raising awareness of the graduates about the role and responsibilities of the professional urban planner and designer, as well as the necessity of adhering to professional ethics
