Faculty Dean Chairs Faculty Council Meeting, Highlights Department Achievements and Honors Academic Excellence


   Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, chaired the regular council meeting, in attendance of the vice deans, a number of former deans, heads of the scientific departments, and academic staff to discuss strategic plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing academic and administrative performance.
   The meeting started with a moment of silence and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of the late Engineer Karim Al-Aidy, Assistant Lecturer at Structural Engineering Department. Faculty Dean and members of the Faculty Council extended their sincere condolences to his family, praying for mercy and eternal peace.
   As part of the commitment of the faculty to linking scientific research with sustainable development, Dr. Marwa Qamar Al-Dawla presented a selection of outstanding graduation projects by students from the Department of Urban Planning and Design, including the “Sensory Perception Park – Oasis of the Senses” project. The presentation also showcased engineering solutions addressing key challenges facing the town of Tanta through Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including the assessment of educational service distribution, urban expansion analysis, and public transportation network optimization, in collaboration with the Departments of Public Works, Architecture, and Mechanical Power Engineering.
   Highlighting the international engagement of the faculty, Prof. Hager Alam Addin delivered a presentation on the faculty team's participation in the international Formula Student competition in the United Kingdom. She praised the team's dedication in representing the faculty on the global stage, while the Council expressed best wishes for the team and the achievement of distinguished results.
   The Council also celebrated a number of academic staff in recognition of their recent appointments and accomplishments. The Dean congratulated Prof. Yasser Al-Samadouny on his appointment as Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research. Congratulations were also extended to Dr. Nevin Youssef Azmy on her appointment as Director of the University Center for Environmental Science and Technology; Dr. Mohammed Gamal for assuming the role of Director of the Digital Library Unit; Dr. Al-Sayyed Al-Sa’eady for his appointment as Deputy Director of the University Information Network Unit; and Dr. Abdul Karim Sayyed Abdul Karim for receiving the University Best Doctoral Dissertation Award for 2025.
   The Dean also announced that the faculty recently welcomed a high-level delegation from New Valley University, headed by Prof. Ahmed Al-Hussainy, to exchange research expertise and strengthen cooperation in the fields of sustainability and smart technologies.
   The meeting concluded with discussions on a package of strategic initiatives aimed at reinforcing the position of the faculty as a center of innovation and academic excellence while enhancing the quality of its educational system in line with the aspirations of Tanta University.
