Faculty of Engineering at Tanta University hosted Prof. Alaa Al-Sharqawy, Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at Lawrence Technological University in the United States and former Global Director at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles – Stellantis, for a specialized two-day workshop on the future of battery technology and electric vehicles.
The visit is part of the ongoing efforts of the faculty to strengthen collaboration with distinguished Egyptian scientists abroad and global leaders in battery technology and thermal systems.
The workshop was held in the seminar hall under the title “Advancements in Battery Technology and Modern Automotive Industry” and addressed the latest scientific and industrial developments through two main themes. On the first day, Prof. Al-Sharqawy delivered a lecture on “Recent Developments and Future Trends in Battery Technology and Electric Vehicles” highlighting major shifts in the global energy market and the rapid evolution of environmentally friendly automotive manufacturing. The second day focused on “The Role of Engineering and Chemical Education in the Modern Automotive Industry” emphasizing the need to align academic curricula with industrial innovation requirements in order to bridge the gap between higher education and the labor market.
In a notable initiative, Prof. Al-Sharqawy announced that he would personally sponsor the full cost of a specialized (HYSYS) training course for students of the Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering Department. The program aims to equip students with proficiency in one of the world leading engineering simulation software tools, enhancing their competitiveness in international job markets.
At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Faculty Dean, presented the commemorative shield to Prof. Al-Sharqawy in appreciation of his valuable visit. He reaffirmed the commitment of the faculty to preparing engineering graduates capable of keeping pace with the global technological revolution through direct engagement with international experts.
