Faculty of Engineering at Tanta University witnessed on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, the defense of a doctoral dissertation presenting an interdisciplinary research model that brings together engineering and medical sciences to advance cancer treatment technologies.
The dissertation, titled “Enhancement of Thermal Ablation of Tumors Using Nanoparticles,” was submitted by Eng. Mennatullah Ibrahim Al-Desouqy Asran, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering, specializing in Biomedical Engineering.
The research reflects the educational and research direction adopted by Tanta University and its Faculty of Engineering to support interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary sciences and research. It highlights the integration of engineering and medical expertise in line with the strategic vision of the university and the efforts of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to promote cross-disciplinary collaboration, link scientific research with practical applications, and develop innovative solutions to health and development challenges.
The dissertation was jointly supervised by Prof. Amira Salah, Professor in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering and Acting Head of the Department; and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Professor of Internal Medicine and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at Faculty of Medicine and Acting Vice President of Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
